Historically men were thought to be the most successful and prominent Shaman or healers by their people but if you dig a little deeper you will find that in many parts of the world female Shaman were often the most requested and revered healers. This large female Shaman gourd figure, Signore's first of seven so far, casts her eyes downward as if gently admiring and displaying the winged baby in her arms. Her finish is a rough version of mosaic glaze designed in alcohol ink colors that might camouflage her in desert underbrush. Her unique black suede and feather cape is mirrored on her small companion and suggestive of a ceremony or a festival of rites she might be costumed to perform. This is a unique and beautiful figure.
