Burning & Leafing – Pyrography and Precious Metal Leaf

Students wood burn designs or artwork of their choice on the gourd’s cleaned surface and use precious metal leaf to fill and decorate the burned images. This is a great opportunity to practice wood burning skills and metal leafing in a group. Ideas sprout like wild in the company of other artists experimenting with these techniques and observing each other’s work. Students also enjoy being able to experiment with a wide variety of burning tips or nibs for creating special effects and helping to discover the ones they like the best and may want to purchase for themselves.
